User data is exclusively stored on their mobile device, or their browser in the case of the Web app. User data remains private, only ever accessed by the user. Yes, you can download your full M-Pesa statement, and upload it into the app. It will enable you to access your financial history from as far back as 2 years ago depending on the statement you download. This feature also allows you to save transactions that were not captured from your messages. It's available from the home menu section.
You don't have to start from scratch. You can create a backup file of all your transactions, categorizations etc from within the app and use it to restore all your information. The backup is saved on your phone and can be shared to your email, google drive etc. This feature is available in the "home menu section" of the mobile app or under the "top menu" on the web app.
